چکیده

Hypoxic-ischemic brain injury can affect and disturb the autonomous nervous system (ANS), which regulates various visceral systems including gastro-intestinal emetic system. The present study aimed to analyze predictive value of gastric regurgitation (GReg) for neurological outcome in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survivors. In this prospective, single-center study, 79 OHCA survivors treated at a university-affiliated tertiary care centre were included GReg was measured first day after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Neurological assessed by Cerebral Performance Categories score discharge. Seventy-six percent population had poor outcome. found be associated with an adjusted OR 5.37 (95% CI 1.41–20.46; p = 0.01). area under ROC curve 0.69 CI, 0.56–0.81) on is early, strong independent predictor comatose These results are particularly compelling because measurement inexpensive routinely performed critical units.

Neurological outcome of prolonged coma survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Nine adult survivors of out-of-hospital presumed cardiogenic cardiac arrest, who remained unresponsive for longer than their third hospital day and who eventually were discharged from the acute care hospital, are reported. Their neurological outcome fell into three distinct categories: (a) a persistent vegetative state, (b) able to follow some simple commands but requiring total nursing care, a...

Survivors of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

Background. Survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest not associated with acute myocardial infarction are at high risk for recurrent cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac death. The impact of the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator on long-term prognosis in these patients is uncertain. Methods and Results. Three hundred thirty-one survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (age, 56±13.7 years...

Outcome of in- and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survivors with liver cirrhosis

BACKGROUND Organ failure increases mortality in patients with liver cirrhosis. Data about resuscitated cardiac arrest patients with liver cirrhosis are missing. This study aims to assess aetiology, survival and functional outcome in patients after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with and without liver cirrhosis. METHODS Analysis of prospectively collected cardiac arrest registr...

Five-Year Outcome after Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery in Survivors of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). METHODS The immediate and 5-year outcome after CABG of a consecutive series of 48 patients who survived OHCA was compared with those of control patients having had a recent myocardial infarction without ventricular arrhythmias. RESULTS Al...

Cardiac Arrest Recurrence in Survivors of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest With Chronic Coronary Artery Disease

One hundred one consecutive patients with chronic coronary artery disease who had survived out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the absence of acute myocardial infarction underwent electrophysiologic evaluation and were followed prospectively. Ventricular tachyarrhythmias were inducible in 76 patients (75%) in the control state and were suppressed by antiarrhythmic drugs or surgery in 32 of the 76...
